BIM & Sustainability The role of the construction product manufacturer November , Building information modeling BIM is becoming a big thing in construction. But how can digitalization help build a better and greener construction industry? And what role should the producer play in all this? The answers to these questions were provided by Riccardo Piazzai, Architect and BIM Project Lead at Schmidt Hammer Lassen Architects. BIM from concept to architect's work standard Riccardo Piazza became interested in BIM, or building information modeling, during his studies, when his friend and colleague Riccardo Pagani, founder of the famous Italian consulting company BIMON, introduced him to the digital construction process.
The two Riccardo's collaborated on the land intermodal transport hub photo editing servies Centro Intermodal de Transported Terrestrial CITT project in Mexico City a significant project that required the preparation of a technical bid for tender. The hunger to learn more about BIM continued after the Mexico City project. Since then, Riccardo has expanded his horizons in BIM methodology, working with large international companies such as Perkins & Will, Mario Cucinella Architects and his current employer Schmidt Hammer Lassen Architects . Piazzai explains "I have been involved in large projects using the BIM methodology in various markets such as the United States, Canada and China, as well as at various project phases and scales.
From inception to implementation." Although Riccardo's projects span the globe, he can usually be found at Schmidt Hammer Lassen Architects one of the most renowned and award winning Scandinavian architectural offices. "Almost all the projects we participate in use the BIM methodology, which also means that consultants from other disciplines use BIM. We rarely work with companies that do not use BIM software. In those rare exceptions, we always find a way to manage the project in the BIM environment," says Piazzai.
